(update: contest closed for entering!) TIME TO GIVE AWAY SOME GREAT GHIBLI STUFF! The people who have been visiting GhibliWorld.com for a longer time perhaps remember I held a free give away contest in June 2005. As this is quite some time ago, it's time for a new give away contest. Only this time with bigger and more exclusive prizes and best of all: it's free, just like last time!
Before I'm going to tell you what's there to win, some of you might wonder why? Well, just like GhibliWorld.com itself, this is something non-commercial hoping to promote, encourage interest in, and discussion about the works of Studio Ghibli. Consider it a kind of Christmas present (though the winner will be picked on January 31, 2007). Studio Ghibli has brought me lots of wonderful moments and I thought it’s time to make other people happy with some of those wonderful moments as well.
WHAT'S THERE TO WIN? There are three beautiful prize packs and if you’re only just the littlest bit into Ghibli, you’d probably like to get your hands on them…
The FIRST PRIZE is a prize pack that comes with the following:
- The Official Ghibli Museum Guidebook
- The Art of Gedo Senki
- A Studio Ghibli DVD
For starters you get “The Official Ghibli Museum Guidebook”, a very special book! First of all because this book is only available for sale within the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan. It cannot be found in normal bookstores in Japan, let alone bookstores outside Japan. Second of all because it is the official and best guidebook about the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan. Full color, with approximately 255 pages, a foldout watercolor illustration of the museum by Hayao Miyazaki himself and more, this book just tells you everything you ever wanted to know. It is extremely extensive and elaborate and covers all sections of the Ghibli Museum with full page photographs, interviews with Miyazaki regarding the conception of the museum, other staff members, and lots more. And all fully accompanied by English translations at the back of the book!
Second of all you get the beautiful book “The Art of Gedo Senki”, another fine edition to be part of the Studio Ghibli “The Art of...” book collection. With a total of 253 pages, it contains a variety of sketches, storyboards, background information, and “cel” reproductions (with backgrounds) of Studio Ghibli’s newest film “Gedo Senki”.
And third all you get to pick a Studio Ghibli DVD. It doesn’t matter which one, from Nausicaa to Howl’s Moving Castle, from Grave of the Fireflies to My Neighbors the Yamadas, you will get to pick anyone of them you’d like to have. Of course you will also be allowed to choose which version you’d like to have: R1US, R2UK, R3HK, R2JP, it doesn’t matter!
Now don't be disappointed if you don't win the first prize, there's more to give away. The SECOND PRIZE is a prize pack consisting of the following:
- Ghibli Museum Short Booklet: The Day I Harvested a Star
- Ghibli Museum Short Booklet: House Hunting
- Ghibli Museum Short Booklet: Monmon the Water Spider
- A Studio Ghibli DVD
Though being the runner up, you’ll receive some very nice items. You will get three Ghibli Museum booklets of the second wave of Ghibli Museum Shorts: The Day I Harvested a Star, House Hunting and Monmon the Water Spider. These wonderful short movies can only be seen at the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan. Of course the booklets itself are only for sale in the Mamma Aiuto Store at the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan as well. It can’t get more exclusive!
But that isn’t all, you also get to pick a Studio Ghibli DVD. Again it doesn’t matter which one, from Nausicaa to Howl’s Moving Castle, from Grave of the Fireflies to My Neighbors the Yamadas. From R1US, R2UK, R3HK to R2JP, you will get to pick a Studio Ghibli DVD you’d like to have.
Finally, there's the THIRD PRIZE, a prize pack consisting of the following:
- Ghibli Museum Short Booklet: Mei and the Baby Cat Bus
- Ghibli Museum Short Booklet: The Whale Hunt
- Ghibli Museum Short Booklet: Koro’s Big Day Out
- A Studio Ghibli DVD
As you can see, coming in third means you’ll still win some great prizes! You will get three Ghibli Museum booklets of the first wave of Ghibli Museum Shorts: Mei and the Baby Cat Bus, The Whale Hunt and Koro’s Big Day Out. These wonderful short movies can only be seen at the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan. Of course the booklets itself are only for sale in the Mamma Aiuto Store at the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan as well.
To finish, you also get to pick a Studio Ghibli DVD. It doesn’t matter which one, from Nausicaa to Howl’s Moving Castle, from Grave of the Fireflies to My Neighbors the Yamadas. From R1US, R2UK, R3HK to R2JP, you will get to pick a Studio Ghibli DVD you’d like to have.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO TO WIN? Entering the contest is free. All you have to do is to send me your top 3 of Studio Ghibli movies and tell me why these are your favorites! The films don’t need to be my favorites, but I’d like to see a good explanation. What’s so special about them? Why should people who haven’t seen these movies see them? What makes the ones from your top 3 better then the other Ghibli movies? Remember originality and creativity counts. These are exclusive prizes which you can only get at the Ghibli Museum, so try to be creative if you’d like to win.
In case you're wondering if you may enter in a language other than English: entering may be done in English, German, French or Dutch, though English or Dutch is preferred! Also, if you live in some strange place, there’s no problem… Do you live in the U.K., Spain, the U.S.A., Sweden, Japan, New Zealand, France, Korea or live in the Netherlands just like me? It doesn't matter where you're from, everybody who wants to apply, can apply! To enter just send an e-mail with your name, address and your top 3 + explanation to give_away_contest_2006@ghibliworld.com (UPDATE: CONTEST CLOSED FOR ENTERING!). All entries must be received by January 28, 2007. The winners will be selected from all correct entries January 31, 2007. Good luck!
